Fujifilm X-T5 with XF56mm1.2: Muay Thai Portraits (FujiGirl14)

Today I will use the new XF56mm1.2 the hope is to get some good close-up portraits When we requested to photograph the fighters in the gym We were directed to this Nak Muay Challenge event I've never watched a real Muay Thai match before It was electrifying cos everyone was rooting for their friends It just reminded me that I actually like being in the vicinity of people I actually like sports I actually like going to events so it just 'clicked' My name is Mustafa Kamal I'm the gym owner of PFG Muay Thai originally known as Prime Fight Gym Irsyad, one of my fighters, he just won his fight last weekend He started with me 2016 he started off as a student he was fat, he was 90kg he told me he wanted to become a full-time fighter It's hard in Singapore It's very tough to be a full-time fighter in Singapore He was a very shy kid now he is one of my best trainers in the gym many people love him one of my best fighters one of my fittest fighters We understand that Irsyad is quite tired now he has a few injuries from the fight As a crew we can go in and take our time to direct the shot so that we can take portraits of him Irsyad, do you have another T-shirt? or can you not wear…? The new XF56mm1.2 is weather sealed, weather resistant One of the ideas that I had is to spray water across the lens while Irsyad is fighting hopefully not too action-packed a sparring so that I can go really near to catch his sweat, his expressions Irsyad, if we spray water in your face, is it ok? ok (laughs) But the floor will be wet Nevermind, can Little bit in front, or little bit behind Can OK, let's try that Fierce, Irsyad, fierce Wow, wow like raining, raining They've reduced the minimum focusing distance to 50cm It means that everything at the back becomes creamier because your relative distance has become more contrasty now If you're only 50cm from camera to subject The distance at the back increases by another 20cm It would be easier to achieve the bokeh Can you shout something, Irsyad? What do you say when you are fighting Muay Thai? Do you say something? err….

Eeowrp! ok, just say whatever you would say Louder, louder! eeowrp! what is nice is the intensity on your face if you can be abit slower stop abit, stop abit show me the moves ok, let's try, go with the sound also Fierce, fierce, loud means fierce okay… go any other sounds? my signature is always my legs or my kicks, kicks on the knees just come slightly this way that hand move was nice.

That's nice water now, water that's gorgeous nice, nice alright, Irsyad let's review the photos hope you're not too tired I'm not, I'm not very hard to see me tired I think we've got a range we definitely have something there I think it's good Let's wait for Mus to be done and maybe we can get a shot of him coaching you There are a total of 11 (lens) blades now, from previously 7 blades what this means is that, in the bokeh the hexagon has become a circle so now it is as nature does, it is round so I want to try and get that so what I'm trying to do is to really get a nice composition of you guys Upper body? Shot of upper body If a person comes to me and says he wants to become a fighter or wants to become a trainer I won't straightaway say no because it's an opportunity for me to pass down my knowledge It's an opportunity for me to groom a person and me, as a trainer when I groom a person I feel very satisfied there's no credit required You just feel I'm happy for you something like that I learn through my journey started off with no experience at all, just passion I thought passion can feed my family but then, in the end I was proven wrong From there, from all these challenges I found the strength to bounce back up eventually we become that we become that strength The XF56mm is actually a very interesting lens It gives you, in a way, the best of both worlds.

Because when you go really near It's almost a macro lens, but not It's perfect for shooting portraits It gives alot of leeway for artistic shots There's no distortion when you shoot half-body or when you shoot shoulders up or you want a head portrait It's a great lens for doing that When you go a little further or very far out It becomes a little bit of a telephoto lens you can fit a few things in the frame you can start to tell a story, but not very close-up so it gives you a nice range, even though it's a prime lens ok, thanks guys Thank you Khob khun krup Khob khun krup Having a dream is one thing First of all you have to believe in yourself
