Norddeutscher Rundfunk 2022 Greta
didn't train here in the beginning to take part in competitions. Just as a hobby. Just to stay fit. But I saw
that she trains regularly. I asked her about it. I also thought: why not? She trains well, learns fast
and she has this potential for it. At some point I talked to her
and she said I have to take a look. But then… Eventually she approached me. She said: I really want to do
my first fight. I am jawid I am 26 years old. I live in Kiel, work as an industrial mechanic
and as a boxing trainer. I wanted to be a professional boxer.
But if one of my
protégés can do it, I've done it too. I would be even
happier if they could do that. Jawid had ambitions to become
German champion. That's how he came back to us. At that time I was a coach,
I led the performance group. Our goal was for
him to get to the German championship via the state championship and the North
German championship. That was the goal at first. Every time
I trained, I saw myself at the finish line. I didn't see myself training in a boxing club
in the ring, but in front of many
thousands of spectators. And
I saw myself as a professional boxer. That gave me a good feeling and motivation
and self-confidence. So that I can reach my goal. So, circle your right arm forward! But because of work and school
I could not reach unfortunately.
So I could have achieved
if I had continued. But I changed my goal. Now my goal as a coach is… I didn't become a professional
or German champion. I want my protégés
to be German champions, world champions, Olympic champions
and much higher. Help them to reach the goal. Exactly. Answer directly. If he wants to hit,
he's there, you have to score. He is not only a trainer,
but also a contact person. He is helpful
in every way. He shows
with every step and move what a great person he is. Interpersonally
we understand each other. The love of the sport unites us. The people who can achieve something
and who are motivated and …
… have the talent and heart for it, they
motivate me. Above all, Greta and Tarik
motivate me. Exactly. Move harder, forward. Jawid told me a lot: During the first fights
you are excited, but you have to change that
to concentration. What makes Jawid really special is that he sees each person
for themselves and also encourages them. I've noticed
that I'm super ambitious, but often also very insecure. He manages to respond to each person
and encourage them. hap. Yes. And time! Now towards the fight – without him it would
not have been possible. I wanted to be at least
German champion. I didn't make it. Sad… …I'm not anymore… …because I'm a coach now.
And time! Very good. OK. sip. Greta and Tarik, before your first
fights, preparation is good. OK? Exactly. Ashraf has 41 fights, he
can also give you a few tips. Yes? OK! First of all: What is important? To weigh. OK?
Before the fight comes weigh-in first. It so happens that most of the time you get there at the same time
as your opponents, okay? How would you weigh yourself?
Like a normal person. Like a normal person,
but a little more confident. Don't weigh yourself head
down, what else happens in front of the opponent? Yes. The opponent realizes
that you are intimidated. Exactly. Its advantage:
It automatically becomes more self-confident. If he
does, he'll automatically box well. Ashraf shows how it's done. OK? One on the scale, please. Exactly. Yes. Two pounds too much. *laughs* 130 pounds. 50 kilos is not enough. OK. Five kilos, okay. 61, fits. 70.2. Now let's talk about
how you enter the ring. (calls) Greta Tamm. Red corner! Pull yourself down a bit. OK. mouthguard? Do you feel good? Yes. So. We already know that. Greta made a mistake. She looked at the floor. Body shown,
but still looking at the floor.
Looks straight at the opponent,
confident! OK? So! That was the mistake,
otherwise all good. We practice again. Praise … … is important, but … … of course you also have to … … say the mistakes … … too. If I
only say good things to my protégés all of the time, and suddenly they lose
or something else, then that could
be very unmotivating. For example from my experience: I won all my first ten
fights. I won seven out of ten fights
by knockdown. And then I thought: I'm the best. i will never lose The
others always said that too: You are good. You can do it easily. Then I had
a very strong opponent and I underestimated him. (unintelligible announcement) We'll
do a few little things , a few little things,
where is also very important.
Sometimes
you get to be a little bit tired. how do you behave So when you're tired… Single shots, but fast. Single hits. Yes. Once that. If it doesn't work anymore? Then… Move around the ring. Exactly. Stop briefly,
lure into the corner. Exactly. Hoppsasa all the time. Yes. Don't forget to breathe. OK. Play with your opponent. He doesn't have to notice that,
even if you're really exhausted. You don't have to show that. And yep and yep… standing still and opponents… yep! Yes! Don't let yourself be
pushed into a corner. Yep – and don't forget to breathe. playing with the opponent. It doesn't
have to be all the time. When you feel good again,
you start.
Before I knew I was having
my first fight in September , I was a bit unsure. Since I've known
that we're going to train for it, I've really been in the mood. I
imagine myself in the ring. So it's a good feeling. I won't be completely relaxed
before the first fight. It won't be like that. Anyone can say whatever they want. But I just think to myself: I've trained hard
and it will pay off. Copyright subtitles: NDR 2022.
