Conor McGregor and Petr Yan have traded a few shots online over the years, and on Saturday, they got a chance to face off.
Although the ex-UFC champs are probably separated by no less than three weight divisions at this point, they engaged in a friendly staredown following an IBA boxing event in Dubai.
Standing in between Yan and McGregor was the president of the IBA, who held up the sanctioning org’s belt for the fight that almost certainly will never happen. Yan and McGregor were intense during the faceoff but later shook hands and hugged it out.

McGregor once got testy when then-interim bantamweight champ Yan’s boxing was rated over his, prompting the Russian to issue a challenge.
Conor, we all know that you like to talk, but let’s get straight to the point if you really want to box or to fight, I don’t care about the weight or the ruleset. I bet you won’t show up @TheNotoriousMMA https://t.co/EJN2AbQQ32

McGregor is expected to return to the octagon next year to face Michael Chandler in his first fight since suffering a broken leg in a trilogy with Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. Yan remains on the shelf since a decision loss to Merab Dvalishvili that left him at 0-3 since he captured the interim bantamweight title from Cory Sandhagen.
