Gastelum residence, my own shrine to myself. I had nothing else to put up,
so I put that up. I thought it was cool. My actual friends up here. We got Goyito. We got Yair, Tony,
Santiago Ponzinibbio. All of buddies. Hoo, it's nice though. This camp has been
different just because I've had to, man,
overcome a lot of obstacles not only inside the octagon. You know, I'm coming off
a couple mishaps, let's call it. And the pandemic has been hard
on me and my family as well. And so I'm not immune
to any of these things going on outside in the world. This is KG Kai Academy
right here.
It's actually where I've been
getting a lot of work done. It's got my mission statement. On a mission for gold. We've spent a lot of time here. When I went back to the gyms
and the gyms were open again. I mean, I was– I was in
a lot better shape than a lot of the guys that
hadn't been doing anything. We did a lot of work in here. We have adapted. We've changed things
the way we do a little bit.
We've changed our
mindset a little bit. And that's kind of
the main thing I think, is our mindset coming into this
fight is completely changed. And I'm hoping all that work
that I've done mentally, as well as physically
works out for me. [crunching] [music on radio] ♪♪ >> It's the end of the week. It's a shakeout, so.
So, it's all about music. Shaking things out,
getting ready for travel. He's actually going
out a day early. Usually we go out on Tuesday. So he's going out on Monday. We'll turn that engine on,
and turn it off every day. His weight's coming
down really nice. So we're right
where we want to be. ♪♪ This being the second camp with
Kamaru, I mean, it's a pleasure. It's always good when
someone sees something new and I think he's
trying new things. So that fire is ignited again. And I think it's
the mental mindset. That's the key. When you fight
for a world title, and you win and then
you go and defend it. That's a whole different thing. Just nice and easy. Just flow. Yep, boom. Boom, I love it, good. A lot of people, when they face someone they know,
it's hard for them. They have to get mad at them.
They have to do
these different things. Kamaru's such a competitor– That's what I want to see
with your level shoulders. Keep your level shou–
I love it. That with his green bell, even his training partners
he goes hard on. It's like you can't
stop him from working. So I think he's
excited about that. He's excited to go out there and show what he's gonna
do to his former teammate. Go. Go fast, come on, baby! Keep it! Keep it! Hold it there! And time! Wonderful! ♪♪ >> It's kind of a culture
that I've built in my head to where I always feel
like I can never do enough. So in my mind, I want to make
sure that there's nothing that anyone can do
that I haven't seen.
♪♪ So yeah, sometimes I do
have a little issue with– in my mind thinking
that I've done enough. So, I do more. I do over and I do over
and they know that. Everyone that I fight, they know
that because they can see it. That's why there's
no holes in my game. [bell ringing] [traffic] >> Repeated exposure therapy. You've gotta go through
this in your mind. Feet up, mouthpiece in. Okay, you gotta
be looking at me. You gotta be selling
me on danger. If he feels he can't rest,
it's exhausting. Let's go. Put that on. Pummel! Championship rounds begin here. Leave it all in here, leave it
all in the ring, all of it. Go! Go! Five seconds, go! The last day, normal
between 10 and 7 days out– Nice, nice. We run through every
possible scenario along with a metabolic cost
that will supersede the fight.

Forget about the body. There's also a component
of psychomotor vigilance. How he stays sharp in
the presence of fatigue. And everybody knows that
Kamaru Usman has gas. He's got skills, but
he likes to put you against the fence and maul you. Hold it, hold it, now. Good, chin up. But I think he's got
Kamaru Usman on speed, on power, and on strength. So we have a couple of little
surprise gifts for Kamaru Usman. Bring up to center of mass.
Bring up to center of mass. >> That was a long
training camp. Fight got scheduled
multiple times, got canceled multiple times, and I was trying to
get busy, you know. I was trying to get
to improve my game and talk to my coach. And then we did a lot
more strategy in between. >> It has to be fast! Good. >> That helped me
to keep not anxious, but concentrate on what I
have to do to get ready for this camp.
>> One! >> I know him very well. I know him a lot. My coach knows him a lot. All my teammates know him a lot. >> Get him away from you, get
him away from you. Boom, boom. >> So was good, because you
get very well prepared. But on the other hand, he
knows me very well, too. He's getting well
prepared as well. >> Up, up, up, up. >> So I know how hard he works. He know how hard I work. >> Make Herb Dean stop it!

he's a champion right now, he deserves so I'm
feeling great right now. And I cannot wait. One more week to perform
and I'm super excited. [grunting] >> Raise your hand. ♪♪ >> Today was his last
day of conditioning so we're just kind
of tapering down, put him through a longer
conditioning circuit, trying to replicate
how a fight would go.
10 seconds. >> Training has to be
way harder than the fight and that's what we
tried to simulate here is if the fight goes real bad, I mean that's what you
expect to feel you know. You expect to feel fatigue,
expect to feel burning. You expect to feel like
you're on fire, you know. [grunting] And that's, uh, we call
that baptism under fire. And that puts an end
to training camp. [grunting] I don't have a way. I just– I don't know. I try not to think
about it, I guess. [grunting] Damn you. Why am I putting
myself through this? Because I'm gonna be
in there in a week, and I need the recovery.
I need my body to be at 100% and this is one of those
ways, you know. [grunting] >> How are you? Look at this. 'cause the shirt that
you have are French cuffs. >> Okay. That's different. >> Yeah. Your shirts are in there. >> I have five UFC fights
with Mark Russell suits. And we keep winning so
we're gonna keep doing. Wow. This I gotta walk. I gotta walk this way. [giggling] >> How do I look now? Good, huh? For sure when I put a suit, I imagine putting
the belt right there. So I visualize
myself with the belt, you know becoming a champion. >> Literally the biggest
neck in the UFC. >> Oooh, wow. Gilbert Burns, the real.
It looks good. It feels like a million
