Sean Strickland welcomes Ian Machado Garry to squash their beef in person if that’s what it comes down to.
The UFC stars have been publicly feuding after Strickland helped to spread unsubstantiated rumors about Machado Garry and his wife and manager Layla Machado Garry. Strickland recently shared an apparent direct message from Ian threatening to sue him for harassment and defamation of character, which only increased Strickland’s ire.
According to a video posted to Instagram by the UFC middleweight champion, he and Machado Garry were actually at the UFC Performance Institute in Las Vegas this week and it nearly got ugly.
“I went to the P.I. today and I ran into the f****** cuck Ian Garry,” Strickland said. “Awkward, man, awkward. He looked at me hard, security had to escort us around, f****** awkward s***, I’m laughing my ass off. Anyway, Garry, I don’t f****** hate you, dude, I actually like you. I think you’re a f****** funny little dweeb. You make me f****** laugh.”
Machado Garry and his wife have both come forward to deny the rumors that Ian took the name of Layla’s ex-husband (Machado is actually her maiden name), that Layla wrote a book—an 11-page gag that can be purchased on Amazon—specifically designed to rope in a famous athlete husband, and that Layla’s ex-husband currently lives with them.
Despite there being no basis for the claims being made about the Machado Garrys, that hasn’t stopped Strickland from piling on, referring to Layla as a “sexual predator” in one tweet and insisting that something is wrong with the relationship.
“I think you’re a dumbass f****** kid who got some p**** that was too good for him and it got in his head and it f***** you up,” Strickland continued. “It f***** you up. I look at you like a victim. I don’t want to fight you, bro. I’m happy for your success, I’m happy for you. But if you look at me hard and you’re feeling some kind of way that you need to get this s*** f****** handled and you want to look at me hard and that’s what you want, slide up in the DMs, bro. I don’t want it, but if that’s what you want, you know where to find me, man.”
Strickland won the UFC middleweight title with a dominant decision win over Israel Adesanya and is already set for his first defense, which takes place in the main event of UFC 297 in Toronto opposite Dricus Du Plessis.
Machado Garry, 6-0 in the UFC so far, meets Vicente Luque next Saturday in the main card opener of UFC 296.
