One-Leg Stance | Modern Muay Boran

The one-point stance also known as Tha Kru is the third fundamental stance of Muay Nam in Muay Chaiya this stance is the only Mae Mai which means "mother technique" because it is said that every other technique comes from an application of the latter contrary to the 2-point and 3-point stance the 1-point stance does not offer resistance to a force applied you can be unbalanced from every direction this stance is used as a training position, as a bait occasionally, and most importantly as a transitioning position during some offensive and defensive actions For example, when throwing a Teep you will transition into Tha Kru and also while blocking a strike to the groin when checking a low kick you will transition into a variation of it if your kick gets caught you will again transition into a 1-point stance being able to be rooted and comfortable in the 1-point position is fundamental for a fighter to get into position open the front foot at 45 degrees and lift the rear leg making sure to pass from the center-line the leg covers the centerline the toe of the foot is up the standing leg is slightly bent if you want to use the front leg instead, just lift the front leg up covering the centerline the classic guard for Tha Kru is the Triangular Guard and it is the one used during training exercises but you can also use the Basic Guard or other Guards to practice the stance start in the basic stance and transition into Tha Kru from the front side for 30 times then transition from the rear side for 30 times
