Mateusz Gamrot and Rafael dos Anjos will clash in a lightweight fight as one of several new additions to UFC 299, which is set for March 9 with a location still to be determined.
UFC officials announced the new fights on Tuesday.
After serving as the backup fighter for the lightweight title bout at UFC 294 in October, Gamrot makes his return with hopes to extend his current two-fight win streak, which includes victories over Rafael Fiziev and Jalin Turner. Overall, Gamrot has gone 6-2 since joining the UFC roster as a two-division champion from KSW.
As for dos Anjos, the Brazilian will once again return to the lightweight division after bouncing up and down between 155 and 170 pounds in recent years. Most recently, he dropped a decision to Vicente Luque in his second fight back at welterweight following a win over Bryan Barberena.
Previously, dos Anjos had scoffed at returning to the lightweight division due to the arduous weight cut, but it appears he’ll be making the move back to 155 pounds after all.
Flyweights Lauren Murphy and Karine Silva will also do battle at UFC 299.
A perennial contender at 125 pounds, Murphy looks to bounce back after a loss to Jessica Andrade in her last outing. Prior to that setback, Murphy scored a one-sided decision win over ex-UFC champion Miesha Tate.
Meanwhile, Silva seeks the biggest win of her career after amassing an impressive 3-0 record thus far in the UFC, with all three of her wins coming by submission. Overall, Silva has won eight fights in a row, including her victory on the UFC’s Contender Series prior to joining the promotion’s roster.
