Daniel Marcos vs. Carlos Vera scratched from UFC Vegas 83 card

Saturday’s UFC event is down to 11 fights.

A scheduled 140-pound catchweight bout between Daniel Marcos and Carlos Vera has been scratched from the preliminary card of UFC Vegas 83 due to visa issues on Marcos’ side. MMA Fighting confirmed the news Tuesday following an initial report by MMA Junkie.

Marcos vs. Vera was a late addition to the card, having only been booked this past weekend.

Marcos (15-0) is a perfect 2-0 to start his UFC career, picking up wins over Saimon Oliveira and Davey Grant. He was previously scheduled to fight on Nov. 4 at UFC Sao Paulo, however his first opponent Daniel Santos withdrew from the bout and replacement opponent Victor Hugo then missed weight by 2.5 pounds, causing the matchup to be cancelled.

Vera (11-3) was set to make his short-notice UFC debut following a 4-0 run under the Fury FC banner. Most recently, Vera suffered a decision loss to Brad Katona in an exhibition bout in the quarterfinals of The Ultimate Fighter 31 tournament.

UFC Vegas 83 takes place Dec. 9 at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas. A bantamweight bout pitting Song Yadong against Chris Gutierrez headlines the event.
