Bobby Green issues challenge for UFC Austin after Dan Hooker forced out: ‘All y’all can get it’

Bobby Green wants someone to step up, just like he would.

On Tuesday, news broke that Dan Hooker was out of his scheduled bout against Green at UFC Austin due to re-breaking his arm. The bout was set to serve as the co-main event of the card, but now the UFC is in search of an opponent for Green, and “King” hopes that one of his fellow lightweights answers the call.

“I want to see who’s gangster like me,” Green said on his Instagram. “I fought on 10 days’ notice. I went on two weeks’ notice. I have made weight, passed the f*** out, my lungs collapsed and everything on two weeks’ notice. I done did it all. Let me see who gangster like me. I guarantee don’t nobody step up. Let’s find out.”

Green himself has a history of being ready to step in at the drop of a hat, most notably doing so against Islam Makhachev on just 10 days’ notice. And fortunately for Green, several of his fellow lightweights have also shown a willingness to do so, with numerous fighters answering his challenge, including Rafael dos Anjos, Terrance McKinney, and even former opponent Jared Gordon.

Green is currently No. 13 in the UFC’s lightweight rankings and coming off one of the biggest wins of his career, a 33-second knockout of Grant Dawson in October. Given that, it’s unclear at the moment which, if any, of the volunteering fighters might get the opportunity to face him. Nevertheless, “King” is thankful to all who volunteered, posting another video to Instagram saying he’s happy to face any of them.

“I’ve been listening to y’all,” Green said. “I’ve been listening. I see all y’all. All y’all can get it. All y’all.”

UFC Austin takes place on Dec. 2 at Moody Center in Austin, Tex., and will be headlined by a lightweight matchup between Beneil Dariush and Arman Tsarukyan.
